Virtual- Little Hands Signing in Storytime, Part 1 In-Person

This presentation will cover the benefits of using basic American Sign Language with all children, and offer a variety of simple techniques for making your programs more fun, educational, and participative through the use of signs with audiences of all ages. Participants will leave armed with a vocabulary of very basic signs to start using right away.

In Part 1, participants will inlcude the basics of ASl and Deaf Culture, and first signs/manners, signs/spring and signs activites.

This webinar will be recorded and will be available to participants through July 22, 2023.

 

Presenter bio: Kathy MacMillan (she/her) is a writer, nationally-certified American Sign Language interpreter, librarian, and signing storyteller. Kathy is the author of the Little Hands Signing board book series (Familius Press) and Little Hands and Big Hands: Children and Adults Signing Together (Hands Up Press), as well as many other books for children, teens, and adults. She has published many resource books for educators and librarians and is the coauthor of the Storytime Magic series from ALA Editions. Kathy has worked in school and public libraries for over 25 years. Since founding Stories By Hand, Kathy has presented American Sign Language programs for thousands of children and parents in public libraries throughout the Midatlantic.
