Laura Lacasa Yost, currently an Instructional Designer at Kirkwood Community College, taught Cultural Studies and History for 17 years before becoming an Instructional Designer. While an instructor, she delivered courses in multiple formats and piloted the development of hybrid classes. She gave presentations at the League for Innovation in the Community College as well as the National Czech and Slovak Museum & Library, and received the John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award for teaching. She now provides faculty with LMS assistance, advice on best practice pedagogy, approaches to content accessibility, insights on outcome/objective writing, and more! She currently supports the development of a new CBE program on cyber security and compliance. Her work with Artificial Intelligence focuses on the functionality of free AI tools for promoting learner success, digital literacy, and accessibility. She has discussed AI and its roles in Higher Education for Rutgers University, ACUE, and the IACTE.
